Tremone Dance Band

During the 1950s the O’Kane family band with members John, Tom, Patrick and Anne Kane, the Tremone Dance Band George Mc Laughlin and his band played in O’Kane’s Hall, Lecamey: Bob Carey’s loft Carrowmena and dance halls further afield in Culdaff and Moville. John Joe Mc Grory and Michael Byrne from Malin often played in Bocan Hall.

A popular tune played at the time was the ‘Bocan Waltz’.

Other musicians around the Culdaff area were William Knox and George Mills (Carthage).

Young musicians emerging around the Culdaff area include Deirdre and Ella McGrory.

The Inishowen Traditional Music Project along with Cairdeas na bhFidiléirí hosts The   Donegal Fiddle Tradition to look at the varying styles and repertoire in Donegal fiddle playing.

Workshops 11pm-1pm (Intermediate -advanced) Tutors  include Paul O’Shaughnessy and Martin Mc Ginley . This workshop is aimed at intermediate to advanced players. Booking is essential in order to facilitate levels. Workshop fee is €10 which includes admission to talk and recital.

Classes in Irish Traditional Music and Singing  for children and adults are resuming in Moville on Tuesday 17th of September.

For Children and Teenagers: Join our choir or take tuition in Harp, Whistle, Fiddle, Uileann Pipes, Flute, Accordion, Concertina,  Mandolin, Banjo and Guitar.
