The Inishowen Traditional Music Project along with Cairdeas na bhFidiléirí hosts The Donegal Fiddle Tradition to look at the varying styles and repertoire in Donegal fiddle playing.
Workshops 11pm-1pm (Intermediate -advanced) Tutors include Paul O’Shaughnessy and Martin Mc Ginley . This workshop is aimed at intermediate to advanced players. Booking is essential in order to facilitate levels. Workshop fee is €10 which includes admission to talk and recital.
Talk from 1.30pm-3.00pm Martin Mc Ginley will give an introduction to the varying styles in Donegal fiddle playing, and give a brief look at musicians such as Johnny Doherty, Con Cassidy, James Byrne who inspired and influenced many.
Recital 3.30pm-4.30pm. The recital will feature workshop tutors : Paul O’Shaughnessy, Martin Mc Ginley, and will be joined by legendary Inishowen fiddler Dinny Mc Laughlin. Recital fee €5/families €10. All welcome.
