Honoria Galwey 1830-1925 lived in Moville and collected music from the local area, and later from Derry where she spent her final years. The music she collected was part of the common repertoire of the people she met. In her collection she credits the lilters, singers, whistlers, pipers and fiddlers for their music a collection of traditional tunes, songs and contemporary songs, that were a reflection of the social history of the time.
Honoria Galwey- Recollectons is a concert performance by six local singers and ensemble groups with music drawn from her collection. The music which was once a part of the repertoire of the local area, is recreated in this concert. This is the first time in over one hundred years that this music has been performed in public.
