Archive 23


ARCHIVE 23 is a project carried out by ITMP to collect, record and present 23 traditional musicians and singers from Inishowen. It is a celebration of the living and evolving music of the area.

The aim of the project is to film and document the traditional music of the area as it is in 2023.

The film features performances of tunes and songs from the local repertoire, along with new compositions. The film gives an insight as to how the music is currently being played and how musicians are being inspired from the local tradition, and how they are developing their own individual music music from it.

This is a hybrid event will feature a documentary film, which is edited from the short individual films made for this project.

The event will also feature musicians who will perform live after the screening.

Inishowen Traditional Music Archive

Preserving and promoting Irish traditional music in the Inishowen peninsula.

ITMP is a non-profit making organisation run by a voluntary committee of people who share a love of traditional music. The committee includes musicians, music teachers and others with a keen interest in the music of the Inishowen area.

The ITMP was founded in 1999 with a remit to preserve and promote Irish traditional music in the Inishowen peninsula.
